Aim – To promote cycling in community for healthy life= cycle to work/cycle to school/college, cycle to market, and protection of environment.

EXPERIENCE OF CLIMB KA BAAP

– 1200 KM SELF SUPPORTED LRM

TOTAL TIME GIVE 90 HRS – DID IN 87.27 HRS. TOTAL CLIMB 34500 FEET


TRAINED FOR 18 MONTHS. SLEEPING TIME – 5 HRS, BREAK FOR FOOD/WATER FILLING – APPROX 3 HRS , TIME ON SADDLE 79.23 HRS, NO PAIN TABLETS USED. ONLY VOLINI SPRAY AND SUMO GEL SOME TIME.

I had started cycling 4 yrs back with the intention of riding 3 days in a week. later on came to know reg BRMs at NGP. I did my first 200 BRM on puncture hybrid, no experience of tube changing or reparing puncture. completed SR series in 2017. Then keep on doing BRM and became 3 time SR

Slowly came to know reg. DC ultra cycling race. when I did little study on that, so came to know who ever from ngp attended without trg from MnM COULD not completed. Jyoti/Anand completed bec they were doing trg at MnM. So through Dheeraj I contacted Amit sir and he agreed to train me with minimum fees.

I trained for 6 months and completed DC in 33.15 hrs[ off the route for more than 1.15 hr THOUGH having crew members] Then in 2019 COVID so did marathon trg under sirs guidance and in life completed Full marathon in 4.30 hrs. Then again came towards cycling. wanted to ride plus 1500 kms non stop. But economically was not possible. Then seen Delhi club opened the registration for CKB and I got green signal from Amit sir and he started giving me TP.

According to the route I made rough cue sheet which helped me lot. No GPS/any other app gave the correct route.Reached delhi 1 day prior to event and took sufficient rest. and ate a lot rajma/rice.

For bike took extra 2 spare tubes and 1 tyre with puncture/ Ln KEY. kept extra tyre and 2 tubes in vehicle which they were supposed to give in bag access point.

First cp was on 211 kms which I reached before time. while going filled my pockets with parathas and sandwich. organiser also supplied in between.

Next time station was on 311 kms with [ 10 kms of steef] elevation i.e TIMBER TRIAL[PINJORE] It was too difficult to climb in HOT SUN so took out my shoes and started walking in hot sun. my legs got burned. but keep on walking and finally reached before time. In the meantime keep on hydrating and eating lots of food.

Next time station was on 453 kms at UNA with staying facility. I reached before time and after shower took rest for 2 hrs. In morning again started at 3 AM bec. next days climbing was too much and that has to be done before 3 PM otherwise they will mark late.

Now this was the biggest climb. After reaching DHARAMSHALA the sun was very cruel and lots of traffic and single road. The climb was like electric pole. but somehow I manage on 1/1. for 2 to 3 kms walked without shoes bec no chance of riding due to climb and traffic. thereafter the biggest climbs starts and at that point many riders get quit. The reason behind it is, it comes in mind that before 3 pm not possible to reach MACLEODGANJ which is another 12 kms and the climb was like again electric pole. 3.15 hrs was in my hand, the control pt was on 585 kms. I THOUGHT even I walk for some kms then also will reach before time. so I started climbing and walking and finally rached in 1.40 hrs i.e. before time.

While returning downhill, it was again difficult job, bec the speed of bike was above 70 and very difficult to control on sharp turns. my hands very crying by appling brakes, but no option. for last 3 to 4 kms again I WALKED bec of traffic and my hands said, no WE will not help.

Then next control pt and stay was on 621 km. I was happy that I have climed all hills. but then again the route was towards PALAMPUR/BAIJNATH and again back to on dharamshala rd for stay. The route was terriffic, again up hill/downhill and elevation. In palampur I lost the correct path and went off for 4 kms.BUT locals helped me and guided me for the correct path. Somehow came to hotel and took rest for 1.30 hrs. When I lost route I KEPT myself cool.

After rest for 1.30 hrs again I STARTED further. The next bag access point was at 939 kms and the route was not so easy. It passed through the villages and [ 4 kms road was broken]. finally we reached the bag access pt. we stayed at hotel.

FINAL DAY EXPERIENCE

Final day journey was not so easy, since I have not slept from last 3 nights. I reached at last bag point HAVELI BAGHBAN HOTEL at around 11 pm. Rided in rain for last 4 to 5 hrs, and my bike was with full of mud. First thing I did after reaching hotel while eating paratha, I cleaned my bike, oiled it and kept ready for morning ride. Calculated the distance it was 260 kms. BUT I kept the distance as 300 kms and calculated if I ride at 20 speed also then I requies 15 hrs to reach the end point The road was easy – plain, only 10 kms climb was left. Kept everything ready and slept for only 1.30 hrs. Got up at 2 am and started sharp at 3 am with no food. After reaching 30 kms took eggs and packed also for further ride. Again climed the TIMBER TRIAL and did NON stop ride for approx 80 kms. Now again took small break for food. Had 1 paratha and packed 2 parathas for further ride which I decided to do non stop.

Finally I KEEP on riding with full hydration/food with cool mind and on LOWER GEAR above 22/23 SPEED. There was huge traffic on GRAND TRANK EXPRESS with full of noise.

Finally reached the end point in 87.27 hrs. Txns all well wishers my family for support. A big txns to Gajanan chain reaction Nagpur for servicing my bike and also to Rishi sir for upgrading and modifying my bike. Also txns to Dr Amit sir for imparting multipurpose training, without which it was not possible to attempt CKB.

Now the final journey started. bec time left was less and distance was 260 kms.
